Lovely new goodies

I received this gorgeous package from Simon & Schuster – a book wrapped in lovely paper with silver hearts and a little bag of sugared almonds.

I bought the following books on a trip to Whitby where I managed to pick up a load of Agatha Christie’s that I haven’t read yet in a second hand book shop and which I just had to snaffle (you can’t beat a good Christie whodunnit when you’re in the mood for some cosy crime).
And finally, when there was an offer on at Waterstones that gave double points for all purchases over the weekend….well, it would have been rude not to really wouldn’t it?

Wow! You’ve got some great books. I really want to read These Things Hidden by Heather Gudenkauf. I used to love Agatha Christie novels especially the ones with Hercule Poirot 🙂

Great loot! I enjoyed These Things Hidden but couldn’t tell you much about what happened – memory fading or just one of those books which doesn’t remain with you but is enjoyable at the time. Goodnight Tom is fabulous. I have heard many good things about Sacrifice too.

I felt like that about Gudenkauf’s first book but I’m still looking forward to reading it – I think it will be a “nice” read. I have never read Goodnight Mr Tom but the TV adaptation was really good so I’m looking forward to it. Read Sacrifice – it’s brilliant!!!

hangs head in shame…. but i’ve never read an Agatha Christie book 😉 Theres a lovely nearly new book shop nearby which i often go into and theres always loads in there, i always pick them too. I havent read a single Tess Gerritsen either (and i thought i was well read ha) i do have a few of those on the ever growing tbr!… a really lovely selection there,i’ll be checking some of those out on amazon later 🙂

I can’t believe all those fantastic new books, talk about spoilt for choice.
I would probably start with the Tess Gerritsen, then move on to Agatha Christie, but hey! with so many to choose from, you could just mix them all up close your eyes and pick one at random!!

Though RSVP is packaged so prettily that one might resist opening it, it is the one I would select because something wrapped so prettily shows so much promise!!

Books and tasty treats together – now that’s something I can get on board with!
If you really want to read and review a book there is no harm in mailing the publisher directly and asking politely if they have any review copies. I have done this several times when there is something that I want to get my mitts on. Once you are known to publishers you will find that lovely treats like this land on your doormat fairly frequently which NEVER loses its appeal! 🙂

Can’t help it, I’m still stuck on finding books for 10p in a charity shop. Not in a million years would you find that here!! In my town, they think second-hand paperbacks ought to be $5.50 or more!

I read a Tess Gerritsen book recently (sent to me by the lovely Transworld) and have since been out and bought another of hers from Waterstones.
That package from Simon & Schuster looks fantastic!
